We do not accept links in Fanmail. We accept links during the appropriate open submission time on Friday nights 5PM to Saturday nights 5PM, Alaska time. We accept these submissions via our Submit box, which is only open during the appropriate time.

Thank you to everyone who submitted last week! We truly appreciate those of you in particular that spent time suggesting posts from blogs other than your own. We love the support and effort of finding pieces you find worthy, interesting, etc. We received about 60+ submissions/suggestions during the open time FR-SA, and hopefully we will receive just as many, or more, this week. HOWEVER!

  • Please remember to check that you’ve actually sent us a LINK and not just a title of a piece. We will not go looking through your blog for the piece. All you have to do is copy the URL and paste it into our submit box.
  • Please remember to only submit one link to us from your blog.
  • Please remember not to send us a poem or prose piece, send us the link to a piece that is posted on your blog, so that you get the love from our followers and so that if you get featured, you get featured, not us.

As always, contact us with questions, comments, concerns, riddles, naked pictures, etc.

Hi there Spilled Ink followers! We are getting a lot of great participation for Spoken Word Saturdays. If you’ve missed out on the recent published audios and videos, check out our brand new page that keeps all spoken word submissions together for easy exploring! We want to keep up the number of people deciding to join in on the fun, and we want you all to show them some love!

So what do you need to do to participate? Create an audio or video of you reciting poetry or prose. It could be your own work, or another Tumblr writer’s (with permission), or it could be from an author or poet from outside of the site. Or all three! It’s up to you, we just want this day to be about spoken word!

Tag your work with #spokenwordsaturday so that we can find it. Please do not submit it to us, just post it on your own blog, tag it properly, and we’ll find it!

It’s already Saturday in many places. Let’s get to creating and posting those audios and videos please.

Currently (as in tonight and for the next couple of days) I am going through and updating/editing Spilled Ink and Spilled Ink Prose. So we have some new pages, questions answered, and project ideas that will hopefully be up in the next week or two.

If you have any comments, questions, things you want clarified, or suggestions please send them to usWhy keep things to yourself if it could help us improve our ability to serve the Tumblr writing community?

So this last weekend was the first real Spoken Word Saturday and you guys did great! I saw a good amount of posts, audio and video alike, building up on #spoken word saturday and #spokenwordsaturday. Feel free to use both tags or just one, we’ll still manage to find you!

On our blog we posted the following:

But also, here are links leading to audio and video postings that didn’t make it to our blog this weekend but that you should still definitely check out!

Now, let’s be honest. We all have some Tumblr addiction going on, so there are times where we just kinda chill and laze around, going through the dash or Googling that one rash you’re not quite certain if you should inform your doctor of, etc. So seriously, take some time, click these links, watch/listen to these spoken word submissions, and show them some love!

And tune in next week! It was a little disorganized this week and I didn’t get to post as many as I wanted to because I was out having fun in real life. But hopefully this week you’ll find that you are inspired to make your own audio or video. If you get through the links listed above and want to read even more, feel free to check out the kickstart submissions done last weekend to get the ball rolling: moi, Lillian, Lauren, lxxepicxxl, and Kat.

Mucho loveo,
Bethany

We hope to see a great turn out tomorrow too! Tag properly or send us the links to your Spoken Word Saturday submission!

Spoken Word Saturday

Alrighty folks, here is a video* for Spoken Word Saturday. Explanation provided in the video so you better watch it so that I don’t feel like I just wasted my time. :/

Poems read:
Saccharine Dreams by me
Looking back, part one by theninaandthepinta (I basically decided I was going to pronounce it like it was Spanish…)
A Plain Life by William Henry Davies

Post your spoken word videos sometime during the week so that Friday night Lillian and I can find you and choose some to post on our site! Tag with #spokenwordsaturday or you’ll be lost forever in Tumblrverse. Also, you can submit them to us in the form of a link!

[I’m obviously cheating on the video I said I would be trying to make for Obsessed with Words three or so days ago…..]

*Video subject is awkward on camera and does expect sympathy for not looking at the camera most of the time. Video subject had to edit out 4 minutes of video so that it would be acceptable. Also, please pardon the first segment of the video. Video subject was hoping to be amusing and capture the attention of her readers. Kthx.

For those just logging on, it’s still Saturday in Alaska! Check this out and maybe glance back through our page at the two other videos Lillian and Lauren have done for the Spoken Word Saturday project, and the audio lxxepicxxl submitted. We hope to see a lot of videos and audios up next throughout the week so that we can post them throughout Saturday. We apologize in advance for reblogging the heck out of this, we just want the word to get around and for it to be awesome. <3B

There’s gotta be a ton of people that haven’t seen this yet, so throughout the week I will be shamelessly reblogging this to spread the word. I want to be able to watch/listen to at least 20 spoken word videos/audios. Although we’ll only reblog a select amount during next Saturday, I will be putting together and posting a comprehensive list with links to all that choose to participate! Links for yesterdays submissions are above, plus one more here by Kat reblogged later last night.

Join us!

DON’T FORGET TO POST YOUR SPOKEN WORD SUBMISSIONS ON YOUR BLOG AND THEN EITHER TAG THEM CORRECTLY OR SEND US A DIRECT LINK!
