Was it enough?
When I soiled my fingers
To light the fuse?
I longed
To burn down the wall
Of wax
Spilling between us
Like honey-thick silence
That stuck to our lungs
When we breathed it in
And kept the words
Pushed down
    And maybe,
I wanted you to weave your fingers in mine
So we could dance in the ashes
Like it was falling snow.

Instead, you let the flames swallow you
While your gaze
Burned into my chest.
