fortheloveofcontradictions:

Sweet like a berry
but bruised like one too,
touch it at the wrong time
and it just might poison you.

Your pain could’ve been avoided
if you only knew
that the second you rub it the wrong way
it’ll rub you the wrong way too

In return.
Call it a lesson learned,
any time you venture off into lands that have already been burned,

Blocked or broken.
Consider it a token
of affection, not infection.
That was simply your misconception.

Pulsing, it beats and murmurs to itself,
“Why did I give myself away so easily?”
Fluttering, it skips and pumps itself,
“In these chambers, it’s my only way to be free.”

Be kind to the hearts
that exist around you,
they’re hard to revive
when they’re under attack.
