She sat down
to write about innocence
about the charcoal lines
that eventually infringe
on new-fallen snow
and how one slip of a pen
ruins forever
a clean sheet of paper.
So much is written
about the loss of innocence
that she couldn’t understand
how to handle
being the only one around
who still had hers.
